Buying a home and moving into a new neighborhood can be a daunting task. Here are a few tips to get you started…
1. Attend your first HOA meeting
This will allow you an opportunity to meet many of the homeowners and introduce yourself.
2. Meet with the HOA President
This is a great way to understand what’s important to your neighbors and in your community. This is the one person that knows “everybody” and can make recommendations on who to reach out to.
3. Be Friendly
If one of your neighbors knocks on your door, take a minute from your busy work to genuinely interact with them.
4. Don’t be a pest
Although you want to be friendly, you don’t want to be a nuisance. Limit visits to invitation only unless you have something of value to offer.
5. Jog in the neighborhood
Take an opportunity not only to get in shape but wave and say hello to whoever you see.
6. Participant in HOA activities
When you can, volunteer and participant in the activities offered by your HOA members.
7. Pick up the poop
Nothing makes a neighbor more unhappy than stepping in poop left by your pooch. Build quick relationships and make an impression by cleaning it up, and then keeping out of your neighbors yard!
8. Stop and say hello!
Introduce yourself to anyone you had not previously met.
9. Send “Thank You” notes to anyone who gave you a housewarming gift.
Okay, that’s enough for now. Lets get going…
WELCOME
