There are many who believe that doing major renovations and adding swanky fixtures is the best way to sell a home fast. In most cases, there is some truth to those beliefs. However, it is not the most cost effective or only way to do so.

If you are working on a tight budget you may want to consider painting. New paint adds life to dull rooms and can create an immediate feeling of newness. Stick to neutral colors and add a little dash of color or design with wall murals and decals. If you are going to use a less neutral color, try to focus on one wall as an accent instead of the entire room. Dark paint colors are more difficult to cover and buyers may not like your color choices for themselves.

  • Have a painting party if you have friends or family that are good with a brush. A little food and beverage goes a long way in getting help.
  • Take on one room, one theme, and one design idea at a time. This will help you to complete projects on schedule and keep your energy up.
  • Save $’s and only hire help for those tall vaulted celings

Most importantly have fun doing it!
